I decided to start off with New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for no special reason other than I just purchased it last week and it was already in the system. I played an hour of it.
Let me start by saying that this game is jam packed with content, it has the original Wii U release, the Luigi expansion, different types of challenges that you can even use your Mii to play with, it has tons of stuff. These different gameplay options aren’t second thoughts either, they are relatively well thought out and pretty damn addictive.
For example, one mode has you racing towards the end of the level, the more coins you collect the faster the screen scrolls, making it hard to traverse the course. While another has you jumping off enemies to try and get a set number of 1-ups without touching the ground.
Nintendo definitely knows how to create classic Mario courses, everything is expertly crafted and so damn fun. There’s a 4 player CooP mode as well, I’ve played it with my family, who are young and they get it.
Littered throughout each stage are three medallions, this is where the challenge comes in as an adult gamer. Some medallions can be very well hidden or require you to get a specific costume to use its ability to gain access to otherwise unreachable sections.
Overall NSMB left a great impression on me and I look forward to playing more but for now, it’s off to the next game!
Game Time: About 1 Hour
Moço has held a controller ever since the Atari 2600 days, to the current PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X. Ever since I was little I loved to write, practicing on an old Casio portable printing machine. So, here I am doing what I love most. Only second to actually playing them, I’m writing about Video Games. So stay awhile and listen, you might just like what you read.
