Starcraft 2 – Legacy of the Void Review

Starcraft-2-Legacy-of-the-Void-feature-672x372“Blizzard changes SC2 completely, with another High Polished top Notch game.”

Starcraft 2 is one of my favorite games ever. A close second behind Warcraft 3. Blizzard changed the game with Legacy of the Void. You start off with more mineral workers and that will have you ready for your first skirmish within minutes. It’s amazing on how different it feels from Heart of the swarm.

Each race has been updated with two new units. I can only speak for protoss as it is my favorite race and they added an adept unit which is kind of like a mid range unit but their reach isn’t as far as a stalker. Then there’s the Disruptor, a unit that can send out a ball that explodes killing tons of enemy units with it’s splash damage.

The rush that you get from each game, keeps you at the edge of your seat. It really is amazing how much has changed with only adding more mineral workers. You will encounter your opponent more times within a match and most matches are of the back and forth type.

Now there are tournaments that take place about every 2-3 hours. Another new mode is archon, where two players control the same race, usually having one player take care of the base and the other attacking with units. Imagine your friend commanding one group of units while you control a second group, attacking from different angles. It’s pretty fun.

A new mode called ‘Co-op’ is new to LotV as well. This has you choosing different heroes, each with their own specific units. There are a variety of maps to play on, each with different objectives, one has you destroying trains, and another has you defending a structure. As you complete missions you gain levels which unlock special abilities for your hero. It is a great addition and I hope Blizzard continues to release new maps for it.

I can’t comment on the single player campaign because I’ve been having so much fun with the multiplayer. I am giving the game my highest score, a platinum, and I don’t give those out often. Overall I highly recommend Starcraft 2 to anyone that has the slightest interest in RTS games, and if you are a gamer, I suggest you at least try it. It has something for anyone.platinum

Below is an outdated chart of units and their counters, I will update the link if I find a better page.

10.16.16 Edit: I couldn’t find a decent counter chart so I made my own, each for their respective race, each printable, and each easy to read. Enjoy.
